AI search and traditional Google search aren’t separate battles — they overlap heavily, but they reward slightly different things, and a strategy for one isn’t automatically a strategy for the other.

Where they overlap
Both require a page to be crawlable, fast, and relevant. Strong technical SEO is non-negotiable for either.
Where they diverge
- Google search still rewards a ranked list — position #1 through #10 all get some traffic
- AI search compresses that into a handful of citations, so being merely “good enough” to rank #7 may earn zero visibility in an AI answer
- AI search puts more weight on directness and quotability; classic search tolerates longer, more discursive content
A complete strategy covers both — see the AI SEO guide and browse more in AI Search & AI SEO.
