Plain Intelligence
Last updated July 21, 2026.
Plain Intelligence (“we,” “our,” or “us”) publishes plain-English guides on AI search, GEO/AEO, and technical SEO at plain-intelligence.com. This policy explains what information we collect from visitors, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum needed to run the site, send updates to people who ask for them, and understand which guides are actually useful — nothing more.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Contact form. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the category you select, and your message. This goes to a single inbox and is used only to respond to you.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send you updates. Subscriptions use a double opt-in process — you’ll receive a confirmation email before you’re added to the list.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are read, how visitors arrive at the site, and general device, browser, and location information (country or city level, not precise location). This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
- Hosting and security data. The site is hosted on WordPress.com (operated by Automattic) via Jetpack, which handles infrastructure functions like security monitoring, login protection, and backups. This can involve standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies from our hosting platform (WordPress.com/Jetpack) needed for basic site security and functionality.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, used to measure site usage in aggregate.
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies — we don’t run ads on this site and don’t share data with ad networks. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
How we use your information
- To respond to messages sent through the contact form
- To send newsletter emails to people who have subscribed
- To understand which content is useful and improve the site
- To keep the site secure and functioning correctly
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Third parties we work with
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) — aggregate traffic analytics.
- WordPress.com / Jetpack (Automattic Inc.) — hosting, security, contact form delivery, and newsletter delivery.
- Rank Math SEO — generates metadata and structured data for our pages; does not collect visitor personal data.
These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies and data-processing terms.
Your choices
- Newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can manage your subscription at any time.
- Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
- Access or deletion. To request a copy of the information we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, contact us using the details below.
Data retention
We keep contact form submissions and newsletter subscriber emails only as long as needed to respond to you or maintain your subscription. You can ask us to delete your data at any time using the contact details below.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, relying in part on the security infrastructure provided by our hosting platform. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
International visitors
If you are visiting from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using this site, you consent to this processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally as the site or our practices change. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
