Schema markup’s effects are easiest to evaluate through a controlled before/after comparison rather than general claims about what schema “does.”

A simple test structure
- Document current SERP appearance — rich results, snippets, knowledge panel presence — before any change
- Add or expand schema markup relevant to the page type (FAQ, HowTo, Product, Article)
- Validate the markup with a structured data testing tool
- Track SERP appearance and click-through rate over several weeks after the change
What to watch for
Rich result eligibility depends on more than just valid markup, so treat any observed change as directional, not guaranteed. See schema markup guide. More in Research & Data.
